The Polish Network of Demonstration Farms (SGD) is a thematic network of the PRN+. Its main objective is to strengthen the transfer of knowledge between practitioners and researchers and to facilitate the exchange of experiences and good practices at the level of a farm and its agricultural production. The Network is the result of the cooperation between the 16 voivodship agricultural advisory centres and is coordinated by the Agricultural Advisory Centre in Brwinów (CDR).

Demonstration farms participating in the SGD Network are a place for farmers and agricultural producers where they can gain practical knowledge and experience in the field of selected elements of the agricultural production process, including the storage and processing of agricultural raw materials. These places are particularly valuable due to the presentation of current and practical solutions, along with the benefits of this solution. In the demonstration farm, farmers have the opportunity to closely observe the production process, compare it with their own farming methods, as well as exchange experiences and obtain confirmation about the possibility of including new, better solutions in their farm, and thus increasing their competitiveness.

The SGD Network provides a standardized form of disseminating such initiatives by identifying and selecting farms in each voivodship that can act as hubs of practical knowledge and presenting their offer in a uniform form on the website. It is worth noting that the specification of the production of demonstration farms in a given voivodeship corresponds to the specificity of agricultural production in that region.

The main objectives of the SGD Network are:

• strengthening the transfer of knowledge between practitioners and researchers to facilitate the exchange of experience and good practice at the farm level through peer-to-peer learning
• facilitating the creation and functioning of a network of contacts between farmers, advisory entities, research units, demonstration farms and other entities interested in conducting, developing or using demonstrations on farms
• raising the level of knowledge and skills of demonstration farm owners, and as a result, increasing the competitiveness of Polish farming
• promotion of demonstration farms among farmers and other entities interested in the transfer of knowledge in agricultural production
• increasing the market orientation and competitiveness of farms, both in the short and long term, including a greater focus on research, technology and digitalisation

The tasks of the Polish Network of Demonstration Farms are carried out by the voivodship agricultural advisory centres.
