Women make for a better climate 2024

This year’s meeting Women make for a better climate was full of energy, commitment, mutual learning, and the exchange of experiences among participants. The meeting, held in Gdansk from September 10-12, gathered over 180 participants, including representatives from 58 Rural Homemakers’ Associations across Poland.

The annual conference is structured around three key themes: addressing climate change, strengthening organizational resilience, and exploring culinary traditions in the context of cultural heritage and natural environments. This year, participants attended lectures and workshops on subjects such as climate change in agriculture, the impact of microplastics, and the importance of wild pollinators for biodiversity. The special guest on the conference was Pascal Brodnicki, who shared insights on culinary heritage.

The event featured a culinary competition, Treasures Sealed in Glass, where participants showcased homemade preserves in three different categories:

  1. Homemade fruit preserves (including berries, blueberries, blackberries, cranberries, etc.)
  2. Homemade vegetable preserves (including forest mushrooms)
  3. Homemade meat and fish preserves

The conference Women make for a better climate 2024 took place as a part of the Polish Rural Network and was organized in partnership by three units: the Pomeranian Chamber of Agriculture, the Warmian-Masurian Chamber of Agriculture, and the Agricultural Advisory Center in Brwinów, Warsaw branch.
